Plan an AI Film as Cards: How the Bloop Studio Story Board Works

How the Bloop Studio board works: six card types, wires that make the story read left to right, first and last frames, and one cast and location wired into every shot.

Quick answer

In Bloop Studio you plan an AI film as cards on a board. Use Text, Image, Video, Upload, Note and Audio cards, then drag a wire from one card to the next so the story reads left to right. Wire a picture into a Video card as its first frame and another as its last, and wire one Cast card and one Location card into every shot to keep people and places the same. Press Generate on each card. The app is free for Windows at /bloop-studio.

A storyboard in Bloop Studio is not a document. It is a board of cards you can render. You lay out the story, wire it together, and press Generate on each shot. This post shows how the board works.

You need the free Windows app first: download Bloop Studio.

The cards

  • Text: the words of a shot, written as a prompt.
  • Image: a still you render.
  • Video: a clip you render.
  • Upload: a picture or file of your own.
  • Note: a reminder for yourself on the board.
  • Audio: a voice, a sound effect or music, made from the card's words. See below.

Wire the story

Drag a wire from one card to the next. The story reads left to right, so the board is also your shot order.

The simplest board is the one the app suggests for a first shot: add a Text card and a Video card, wire the text into the video, and press Generate. Progress and time left show on the card.

Control the start and the end

Wire one picture into a Video card as the first frame and another as the last frame. The clip travels from one picture to the other.

A practical use: render two stills of the same character in different poses, then wire them in as the ends of a shot. Check the result on the card before you spend time on the next one.

Keep the same cast in every shot

The usual problem with AI video is drift: the person looks different in each clip. Bloop Studio's answer is to wire one Cast card and one Location card into every shot. People and places look the same throughout, because every shot reads the same references.

This makes drift much smaller. It does not make every frame identical, so check each take.

Add sound in the prompt

Describe the rain on the roof and the distant thunder in your prompt, and the clip comes back with them. Be specific about what you hear, not only what you see.

Video with sound on your own GPU needs an NVIDIA card with 12 GB or more. Smaller cards can render pictures and quick silent drafts, or use the cloud models. See how the offline engine works.

Voices, sound effects and music

An Audio card turns the card's words into a voice (text to speech), a sound effect or a piece of music. Audio cards run on bloop's cloud models, so you sign in to use them:

  • Voices: ElevenLabs, MiniMax and Qwen3 TTS.
  • Music: Suno.

A free plan sees the lower-cost audio models; Lite and above see them all. Models that need a recording instead of words, such as speech-to-text, are not offered on a desktop card. Credits apply, so see /pricing. How signing in works.

Let the Director lay out the board

The Director is a chat that lays out cast, locations and shots on the board for you. It is optional. You bring your own Claude or OpenAI key. Treat what it lays out as a first pass and edit the cards.

Every take is kept

Renders are saved as takes in Videos\Bloop Studio in your user folder, or any folder you choose in Settings. Your boards are kept when the app updates.

What it does not do yet

Bloop Studio does not cut your takes together yet. A video editor for that, and a canvas editor to touch up a still, are listed as coming next. Your film is a set of takes you assemble yourself.

Next steps

Download Bloop Studio and build a three-card board. If you want to build a full short film with help, see our weekend workshops at /events.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of cards does Bloop Studio have?

Text, Image, Video, Upload, Note and Audio cards. You drag a wire from one card to the next, and the story reads left to right.

How do I keep the same character in every shot?

Wire one Cast card and one Location card into every shot. People and places then look the same throughout, instead of being re-described in each prompt. It is a strong aid, not a promise of identical frames.

Can I control how a clip starts and ends?

Yes. Wire one picture into the Video card as the first frame and another as the last, and the clip travels from one to the other.

Does the video come with sound?

Yes. Describe the rain on the roof and the distant thunder in your words and the clip comes back with them. On your own GPU, video with sound needs an NVIDIA card with 12 GB or more.

Can Bloop Studio make voices, sound effects and music?

Yes, with an Audio card on bloop's cloud models, so you need to sign in. It turns the card's words into a voice (ElevenLabs, MiniMax, Qwen3 TTS), a sound effect or music (Suno). A free plan sees the lower-cost models.

Can I make a whole film with one prompt?

No. Each shot is its own card and its own render. You build the board shot by shot, check each take, then cut them together.
