Spaces Overview

Plan a film on one board: cards hold the pieces, wires carry them forward, and nothing renders until you press Generate.

Spaces is one board where you plan a film. Each card holds one piece, like a picture, a line of text or a video clip. Wires carry pieces from one card into the next. Nothing renders until you press Generate on a card, so you can plan the whole board first.

Open a Board

  1. Click Spaces in the left sidebar.
  2. Click New Space to start an empty board, or use Search spaces... to find a board and open it.
  3. Import loads a board from a .json or .zip export.

Move Around the Board

  • Pan: drag the empty board, or hold Space and drag.
  • Zoom: use the mouse wheel, or the - and + buttons at the top.
  • Select several cards: hold Shift and drag a box around them.
  • Undo / Redo: Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z, or the arrow buttons at the top.
  • The minimap at the bottom shows the whole board. Click it to jump.

Add, Connect and Remove Cards

  • Add a card: click a button in the tool strip on the left, or press its letter key. The card appears in the middle of your view.
  • Connect two cards: drag from the round output port on the right of one card to the input on the left of another.
  • Remove a card: select it and press Delete, or right-click it and choose Delete.
  • Duplicate a card: select one card and press Ctrl+D.
  • Bring in your own files: drop them onto the board, or add an Upload card.

Generate

Image, video, audio and lip sync cards have a Generate button. The credit cost shows beside the button before you press it. Only that card renders, using everything wired into it.

The Director

Press D, or click the Director button at the bottom of the tool strip. Tell the Director your idea in plain words. It plans the cards, writes the text, and wires them up for you. It does not render anything until you ask it to.
